The Bauta appeared for the first time in Venice between the 15th and 16th century and is considered the most classical and famous Venetian mask. In the past, it was the only mask that people were allowed to wear to wander through “calli” (Venetian streets) and ”campi” (Venetian squares) even when other mask models were banned, for example during the days when San Marco and the Ascension were celebrated, or when the Doges and Procurators were elected. Its unique shape includes a bottom part known as ‘labbro” (lip) which produces the same effect of a sound box, thus modifying the voice of the person who wears it which allows anonymity.

In keeping with the Campiello tradition, every mask we produce comes from a model we make ourselves. The papier-mâché placed by hand is painted in white, black or covered with brilliant gold leaf aged with bitumen and will make you experience the priceless feeling of holding a unique piece in your hands.

To ensure greater comfort, each wearable model is equipped with an internal cushion.
