The Beccaccia (Woodcock) is a nose mask of the Zanni family, who were cunning servants of the wealthy Venetian merchants and noble families in the past. An iconic character of the Commedia dell'Arte which resembled a bird, he used to wonder around the Venetian "calli" (streets) to turn the city upside down with his proverbial recklessness. An unstoppable dancer on starry nights, he also used to bring joy and filled the "Campielli" (squares) with the sound of his lute.
In keeping with the Campiello tradition, every mask we produce comes from a model we make ourselves. The papier-mâché placed by hand and the brilliant bitumen-aged gold leaf, will make you experience the priceless feeling of holding a unique piece in your hands.
To ensure greater comfort, each wearable model is equipped with an internal cushion. The mask forehead cut is available in two different versions: one with the original model cut and a second one with a shorter forehead to make it more wearable.
